Here's a happy problem I love helping Ugandan sellers with. Your WhatsApp shop is buzzing — clothes, gadgets, crafts, produce, whatever you're moving — and now you want two upgrades. You want to stop giving out your personal number to strangers. And you want a US number, because a +1 line makes overseas buyers relax and pay faster. Smart instincts, both of them.
Then reality bites. You reach for a free app, and Uganda simply isn't on the list. Let's skip the frustration entirely. I'll show you what refuses to work from here, and the exact steps that do — in about 20 minutes.
Nobody warns you about this until you've already burned a day and your data bundle. The famous free number apps were built for people already sitting in North America. From a Ugandan connection, they shut the door before you even start.
Plenty of sellers try VPN tricks to fool these apps. Even when a number shows up, it often can't catch the WhatsApp code, or the account gets flagged and wiped weeks later — usually right when a customer is trying to reach you. That's a risk your shop's reputation doesn't need.
| G100 | Google Voice | TextNow | |

| Works in Uganda? | Yes — sign up from anywhere | No — not available | No — US/Canada sign-up only |
| Price | $1.95/month, no contract | Free (but not reachable here) | Free (but not reachable here) |
| WhatsApp-ready? | Yes — verifies WhatsApp Business | N/A — no number to use | N/A — no number to use |

The honest read: those "free" options cost nothing because you literally can't use them from Uganda. A working number at under $2 a month beats a free one that doesn't exist. Easy call.
To register WhatsApp Business, you need a number that can receive the verification code. Meta sends it by SMS, and it has to land somewhere you can read it. Meta does the verifying — the number just has to catch the code. A G100 US or Canada number does exactly that, from Uganda, with no VPN games and no drama.
And that's it — you've got WhatsApp Business running on a proper US number, while your personal line stays private. Feels good, doesn't it?
One honest heads-up: right now G100 numbers receive SMS and OTP codes — which is all you need for WhatsApp verification. Sending your own outbound SMS from the number isn't switched on yet (it's coming after the US 10DLC registration clears). So for WhatsApp sign-up and receiving codes, you're fully sorted today. If plain outbound texting is a must-have for you, just know that piece is still on the way.
Don't stop at "verified" and leave the profile bare. Add your business name, a category, your logo, opening hours, and a short greeting message so first-time chatters get a reply even while you're asleep. A US number with a polished profile is what turns a curious visitor into a paying customer who sends money with confidence.
And if you grow into a team all answering one number, or you want to broadcast to your customer list, G100 also offers the official WhatsApp Business Cloud API as a $10/month add-on. Start with the phone app; upgrade only when you genuinely need it.
Yes. Meta lets you register WhatsApp Business on any number that can receive the verification code. A G100 US or Canada number receives that SMS code (or a voice call) right in your inbox, so you can verify it from Kampala, Entebbe, Gulu, or anywhere in Uganda — no VPN tricks needed.
Google Voice is not available in Uganda or most of Africa, so you cannot get a number to begin with. TextNow only allows sign-ups from the United States and Canada, so registration is blocked from a Ugandan connection. Both are dead ends here, which is why sellers lose days on them.
A flat $1.95 per month per number, with no contract. You pay from a pay-as-you-go wallet in USD through Stripe. Calls are $0.03 per minute. An optional WhatsApp Business Cloud API add-on is $10 per month if you need a shared team inbox and broadcasts.
Yes. G100 numbers receive SMS and OTP codes today, which is exactly what WhatsApp verification needs. One honest note: sending your own outbound SMS from the number isn't switched on yet — that comes after US 10DLC verification. Receiving codes and making or taking calls works now.
No. G100 does not ask for KYC or documents for a US, Canada, or Puerto Rico number. You sign up, pick your number, fund your wallet, and activate — that's the whole process.
Stop wrestling with apps that were never built for you. Grab a number that works from Uganda at app.g100.us, and see the full breakdown on the pricing page.
