known for how hot they can run these days, with dual 8-Pin, or even 12-Pin cables providing yet more power that must eventually be exhausted as heat to keep the graphics card running at allowed components in your PC.<\/strong> It\u2019s outright <em>expected<\/em>. And yes, that <em>does<\/em> also mean that temperature impacts your GPU performance.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Does_Temperature_Impact_My_GPU_Performance_All_You_Need_To_Know\"><\/span>Does Temperature Impact My GPU Performance? Of course, a power reduction (or effectively undervolting) doesn't linearly reduce your performance, so you can easily save on your electricity bill, and reduce your temperature without a linear performance impact.<\/p>\n<p>To be honest, though, this is mostly a band-aid solution. If you <em>really<\/em> want to get your GPU temperature in check without sacrificing performance, you\u2019ll need to take on the following steps in this guide.<\/p>\n<p>You may also want to consider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcworld.com\/article\/604722\/how-to-undervolt-your-graphics-card.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GPU undervolting<\/a>, though that\u2019s very much a high-end tweaker\u2019s endeavor.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Dust_PC_and_GPU\"><\/span>Dust PC and GPU<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/g100.us\/how-to-clean-dust-from-your-pc\/\"><strong>Giving your PC a thorough dusting<\/strong><\/a><strong> is an easy, sensible way to improve airflow in your PC<\/strong>, especially if a lot of dust has been allowed to accumulate over time.<\/p>\n<p>One of the places where dust can accumulate inside your PC is actually inside your GPU. Inside your GPU\u2019s <em>heatsink,<\/em> to be specific\u2014 dust likes to get lodged in the metal heatsink fins behind your GPU fans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You can blast the dust clean from these areas, but be sure to hold your GPU fans still when dusting them. paste is a real problem. It\u2019s not typically expected to happen until 5 or more years of use have passed, though, since GPU thermal paste is <em>meant<\/em> to be a one-time application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The issue with this process is that replacing the thermal paste on the GPU requires you to take the cooler off of the graphics card<\/strong>, a high-end maintenance task many people will (justifiably) not want to do with their card.
